Control from vineyard to bottle is one of the secrets to our wines. We are small enough to maintain a hands-on approach with each and every vintage. Our wines are made in a boutique style in small lot production. Our largest
fermentation tank is only 6,300 gallons and we taste all of our lots and blend them to create our different vintages with a focus on balanced, approachable wines true to their varietal character, letting the fruit do all the talking.
Tannin management - This is a phrase we utilize in our winemaker's notes that many have asked: "what does this really mean?" Our focus is to create wines with smoother, more velvety tannins so they may be enjoyed now, or after a few years of cellaring. All of our wines can be consumed and enjoyed immediately after they are released.
Restrained Oak - Our wines have highly monitored contact with "new oak"; approximately 15% of the barrels we use are new oak. The remainders of the barrels we utilize are one to two years old, primarily French and Hungarian with a few American oak barrels added to the mix. Once again this harkens to our stylistic approach ...we want to highlight the fruit quality, not just cover the wine with an oak blanket. We work at choosing the right types of barrels from specific forests to compliment each varietal and vintage. This approach is true for all of our wines.

Mount Oso VineyardThe Mount Oso region has the same rainfall as the Mojave Desert and the adjacent foothills steer the storms around the vineyard. The water table is 110 feet deep allowing our vineyard manager to control the amount of water on the vines, stressing them to create small tight berries with amazing flavor.read more
